Richard and his wife farm a smallholding in the Adelaide Hills near Echunga, growing horse-quality hay and raising cattle and horses. He has a business background in marketing, sales and management. Richard has been a member of the Mount Barker Branch for 13 years and has previously held office as Secretary and Vice President, and participates in their Annual Pasture Competition.

Richard has had a very successful real estate career and still sells rural and hills residential properties. He is involved in his local community, including the Echunga Uniting Church and the All British Car Day organising committee, organises a local men’s coffee group, and is involved in School Sports Athletics at Oakbank and various charities.

Richard’s interest in agriculture started at a young age. As a “city kid”, he took every opportunity to stay on a farm near Snowtown during school holidays. Richard is keen to encourage young people to join the Ag Bureau to further develop their agricultural knowledge and social links within rural communities.
