Waite Campus open day 2008

ABA members at 2008 Waite Open Day

Following the success of the inaugural event in 2007, Bureau members once again had the chance to see latest in cutting edge agricultural research with the 2008 open day at the Waite Campus on Tuesday 14, October.

The day was organised especially for the Bureau by Adelaide University and SARDI, which both have scientists working on the Urrbrae campus.

ABA Chair, Mark Dennis said the open day was an opportunity for farmers to have the chance to see at first hand research being carried out by scientists from the University of Adelaide and SARDI with partners from the CSIRO and the Australian Wine Research Institute.

Research on soil, land and water management, biotechnology, crop breeding, weed, pest and disease control and climate change issues was some of the topics covered during the day.

The event also provided researchers to talk to primary producers and share some of what they’ve learned by working on their own properties.

Mark Dennis said the day was aimed at bringing together farmers and scientists to discuss the latest in agricultural research.

“The open day is not only a great chance for primary producers to discover the great work being done at the Waite – it’s also an opportunity to help shape its future direction," he said.
